Serbisches Zentrum
Brand identity for the Serbian cultural center in Vienna.
Overview
Serbisches Zentrum (Serbian Center) is a Vienna-based cultural institution founded in 1995 with support from the Yugoslav embassy. Based in the city's 7th district, it serves the Serbian community in Austria through three interwoven programs. Cultural work supports Serbian artists through theater, concerts, literary evenings, and the Savaball, one of the most prestigious events in the Serbian community in Austria for over two decades. Educational work runs a 5,000-volume library, primarily in Serbian, alongside weekly Serbian-language classes for children and youth. Charitable work runs Kinderfreude, a standing initiative supporting children and youth in Kosovo and Metohija.
Strategy
The identity is built around Natalie's ramonda - Serbia's national flower and a botanical symbol of survival and regrowth. The mark renders the flower as a tight mosaic of interlocking petals: blue at the center for Serbia, red at the outer edges for Austria, and purple where the two meet - a color that is both the natural hue of the ramonda itself and a visual bridge between the two national palettes. The result captures what the Zentrum is at its core: a Serbian community rooted in Viennese life, regrowing and blooming across generations.
